Time for myself?! What's that?

So moms and dads rarely get any time for themselves, right? There's always laundry around the corner, weeds that are starting to take over your newly planted begonias, constantly hungry kiddos or, on that rare free Saturday, a ward Primary activity!!! (just teasing Lauree)

Last Friday, Troy took the "morning" off to go golfing with a couple buddies from work (sound familiar ladies?) Keeping all things equal (which they always are in marriage, right?!) - it's now MY TURN for a little break. Fantastic!! Woohoo!! About time!!! So what's the problem?!

I have NO idea what I like to do anymore!!!

Pre-MJZ, I had all kinds of time to myself and I always knew just what I wanted to do.............GO SHOPPING of course. It never got old - I couldn't get enough of it. I didn't even have to buy anything (though I often did), just walking into Anthropologie or Nordstrom or Macy's gave me a rush! I LOVED IT!!!

Don't get me wrong - I still LOVE shopping - but trying on clothes as a 25 year old single girl who works out everyday to keep her body "tight" and has only herself to spend her hard earned money on is a little different than trying clothes on the "looser" body of a 31 year old mother of 3 (2 of those twins) and spending money that could always be spent on some household project or diapers/Pull-ups/wipes/fruit snacks...............you know where I'm going with this!

Here's my question to all of you mom's out there...............when your husbands spend that "morning" golfing and turn to you and say, now you go take a break.............WHAT DO YOU DO?!

Do something to pamper yourself! When Brad went to play golf (which took over 8 hours mind you, which means I get 8 right?) I went to get my hair done...you already have yours done, so lets see. What about a pedicure? I know manicures are hard to keep up, with all that dish-washing and bum-wiping, but pedis are quite relaxing and you get to go all by yourself. I wish there was a company that would just brush your hair and play with it for you. Now that is where I would be spending my money. Other than shopping, I would say do something like an hour long massage. And hey, I still need to get my other 4 hours in that he owes me so let me know when you wanna go :)

I vote pedicure AND shopping!!
Take the TIME to try things on instead of just the regular "grab and go"!! And...... if you are matching time spent, do you get to match money spent? Golfing is expensive!!! Hmmm, just a thought.....

I was gonna say pedicure too. And maybe lunch all by yourself without anyone asking to share your food. And might I add that I like my free Saturday just as much as anyone...I didn't call myself to primary! :-) FYI...Primary Activity Day has been changed to May 10. Jade Royce is now getting baptized on May 3 and those in charge have decided to change it. Hopefully they're getting the word out soon. So now you have 2 free Saturdays before then!

I like to go shopping all alone. I also like to just go to a book store or library and sit and look at magazines or books. Hey! You could call me and we could go to a movie! Or dinner! (Or you could go by yourself of course, but I'm much more fun.)

Hmmm...What to do with the hypothetical free Saturday??? There are so many projects I'd love to work on around the house (like painting various rooms!), I'd send Just and the boys to the park, crank up some itunes, and get started!

You could also try doing some other 'craft' you've been dying to try while you don't have grabby-hands reaching for the scissors, hot glue, etc. :-)

Have fun whatever you do!!! And be sure to blog about it!

Amen about shopping now. I get depressed every time I go and it is all about need and not want at this point. Anyway, my vote is with Holly and Lauree--go for a pedicure or a massage. That is what I do with my "me" time. I desperately need a pedicure and will go with you anytime if you want! Movies and/or bookstore by yourself are a good options too.

Don't you still have bedspreads to finish?

I vote for pedicure, or a workout, it's a toss up right now. But my real choice would be pedicure, pick up the babysitter, come home to a fabulous clean home (yeah right) with clean kids (now that's dreaming). And then immediately get to go on a date.

Go for a Jumbo Jack at Jack in the Box, eat it in the car while driving over to La Frontera, then spend some quality time sitting in the aisle of Barnes & Noble reading any book you want. It's fantastic!!

I like to go out and get a late night treat with friends. Shopping has never been that fun for me. So girl night it is. Or as weird as this is, if it is summer time I love going swimming by myself.

I go for the pedicure, shopping (agree about the money and body not making it as fun), workout, plan a girls night out to a movie and dinner or dessert (but then we're back to the body thing). OR sometimes I just want to be home by myself and have John take the kids somewhere. Then I can do projects, organize, clean, cook and it's a lot more fun without kids hanging on me. Oh Jess are you gonna be in Texas forever, can we be neighbors again someday, somewhere. Your boys are just so huggable and cute and I just want them to be best friends with Asher like they're supposed to be!
