Last night, we took in our second baseball game at Dell Stadium. Last time, we sat in seats and let the boys play at the playscape for most of the game. This time we decided to do Berm seats (lawn seats just beyond the outfield, for all of you who haven't been!).
BERM IS THE WAY TO GO!! It's all families out there and the kiddos can run around without bugging anybody! Not to mention, we sat right behind where the pitchers warm-up - so we got to watch that.
So all was going well. People were watching my kids and laughing - and I was getting the normal questions (triplets? how far apart? etc). Until.........................I swore I saw a girl take a picture of Zachy!! Wierd huh? I thought, ok she must have just taken a picture of something BEHIND Zachy and Zachy just got in the way. Right?! So I let it go.
Then like an hour later - Troy asks me if it's wierd that that girl is taking pictures of our kids!!
Now, she seems pretty normal. I think she was pregnant and she was there with her husband and some friends. She was a cute little blonde girl wearing a UT hat - probably in her mid-twenties. Maybe she just didn't know better? Maybe she was practicing for when she had kids? Maybe she was trying out a new camera?
But it made me just a little uncomfortable! This is wierd right? Have you ever had people you don't know take pictures of your kids?

oh how we miss the games at the Dell Diamond!
we have had strangers take pictures of Kendall before, but she has blonde hair, and apparently Asian tourists are fascinated by blonde children and love taking pictures of them, so i wasn't as weirded out by it! your story is definitely bizarre!
People take pictures of me like this all the time. They must have seen my performance in Oklahoma in high school or something. It's bizarre. ;)
On a more serious note, I agree with you that that's weird. Maybe - just maybe - if the stranger explained why she wanted pictures of your boys (i.e. I'm doing a school photo project on toddlers at baseball games) and it seemed credible, would it not be strange. But taking pictures without parental permission is presumptuous at best. That seems harsh, but that's just how it is these days.
It is weird, and I would have said something just to find out why she was doing it. Maybe she was taking pictures for a newspaper or something.
Maybe she just thought they were way so adorable she had to take pictures! BUT...I would have asked! I think in this day and age, you just don't do that without permission. Not to compare but...I was at a park with a man who had a really big dog, and people stopped and asked if they could take pictures of the dog! I'm talking more than one person. I thought that was pretty weird, but at least they asked!

I probably would've thought "She thinks they are as beautiful as I do....why wouldn't she want to take pictures of my kids!!!" and I would sit there and be one proud mama!!!
Isn't it too bad that our society has made us think otherwise....
uh oh... I've been that girl!!! We were at a Jazz/Lakers game, and there was this little boy, maybe 2 years old, all dressed in the Lakers get up. I thought it was so funny and so cute, I took a picture to show my family. If you can imagine, short shorts, Lakers jersey, yellow headband, yellow wrist bands. I mean, I had to take a picture, right?! Oh no... I'm I a stalker?!
Totally weird! However even stranger is that I can't decide if I am upset or excited that my kids might be on Hot on Austin. We were at the pool last week and this guy was filming it and particularly focusing on my kids in the pool. But didn't say a word to me or anyone. I just saw his van when he left. I made sure that I didn't get out of my swimsuit cover-up until he had left the area:-)
It is kinda wierd, but understandable. Your kids are so cute! I didn't really have it happen to me until we moved here. Arab women are taking pictures of my kids or touching their faces and heads all the time.
I probably would have responded like you- not done anything. I'm so afraid of confrontation and making a big deal out of nothing, but if anyone has any bright ideas on how to handle that, I would love to hear. I guess more than anything, you would have just liked the lady to ask your permission or tell you why ie. they're cute!
