Is this a problem?!

Can you see what he's drinking? I'd like to say that this is a totally isolated event!! That this is his first and last introduction to this sweet nectar from the heavens! But alas, I cannot.

I think it's safe to say that you may have a small tiny bit of an addiction when your kids are so used to seeing you drink DC (that's what I call it) that they call it "juice" and think it's just fine for them to drink! Yeah - that's a problem!! And is it a problem that I have a pet name for it (DC=Diet Coke!)? Um - I think so!

Where did it all go wrong?! I grew up not drinking any "cola" as my mom would call it. Even if it was caffiene-free, it wasn't allowed in our house. I never drank caffiene until my working days - when one busy season I was working 14-16 hours a day and everybody else was downing the coffee like there was no tomorrow. I clearly didn't drink coffee - so what was there to keep me going?! DIET COKE!!

Fast forward to today.................chances are if you know me AT ALL, you've seen me with a DC in my hand! Hello, my name is Jessica Sheen and I'm a Diet Coke-aholic! (just kidding - kind of ; )

The first step is admitting it - right? So there you go - I've said it - for all the world to read (or the one or two of you that read my blog!)

And - I'm cutting back. No - I'm not giving it up - let's not be drastic people!! Baby steps!

But I vow today that I am NOT buying a 12 pack from the grocery store every week anymore(Troy did drink some - not just me). And I'm NOT "going on a drive" with the boys just so I can drop by JITB for a fix. Maybe, I can order one when we go out to eat. Or maybe to treat myself on a really good or really tough day - I can go to Sonic for Happy Hour (99cent drinks 2-4pm daily) every once in awhile.

So, if you see me drinking my beloved DC - feel free to ask me how detox is going - I can use all the support I can get! Hold me to it people!

Hey, good luck with the headaches. I was hooked on regular Coke my senior year of high school for a while. I HAD to have one before I felt like I could function in the morning. I had some major headaches when I stopped.

My mom did the same thing - realized she was addicted to Coke and decided to get rid of the habit. This was years ago, and I don't think she's ever had one since.

You strike me as capable of cutting back without too much difficult.

I'm there with you. I'm down to 1 or 2 (12 oz) a day. One of Jake's first words was "Coke." SAD, I know!

I'm right there with ya! Colas were prohibited in our house growing up too, but I picked up the habit in college and have been off and on it since. I recently tried to quit cold-turkey and made it about 6 days. There's none in the house today and I've got that no-caffeine headache. Ugh.

Good luck to you!

Hey at least you love a diet cola. I am addicted to regular, full calorie laden Dr. P. : ) You can do it. We don't buy soda anymore (dang, yes we do, I just bought one yesterday it was the first in a long time!) well, we are trying to do the "only when we go out to dinner" rule, and it works pretty well! Though I do find myself going to happy hour quite frequently ;)

Good luck!

Ha ha ha! First of all, I love the "Merry Christmas" comment, I literally laughed out loud and scared Abbie. Second of all, Diet Coke. Water just doesn't add up! I am an addict as well. That carbonated goodness has me whipped. Keep us updated on the success ;)

Yeah...In addition to all of your reasons for quitting in the blog you do not want your boys to know the champion "belcher" their mom is.

My mom is a DC-aholic and Asher knows the brown stuff as "grandmas juice" (caffeine free of course). He loves the stuff and I've tried to offer Sprite in it's place when we've been out to eat with her and he wants some of her "juice" but he knows and refuses.

I'm sure you can kick the habit- good luck, Iike the idea of the little rewards and just having it on a non-regular basis. You are human!
